Greetings to the Boston New England Chapter of the IACRN! I am excited to welcome our newest board members, Lacy Coviello and Jennifer Lewis as Members at Large, and Catriona Grant as our President-Elect. I am also happy to have Catherine Dempsey take on the role as Treasurer after having been a Member at Large this past year. We have already had a few meetings and have some exciting things in the works!

Our first Chapter meeting is just around the corner and will be on March 6th from 5:00-6:15 PM. We will have a presentation, “Writing an Abstract for a Professional Conference”, and I understand that our speaker is very dynamic. This is a timely topic as the IACRN Annual Conference abstract Deadline is April 10th. This is the perfect opportunity to get some guidance and inspiration for writing an abstract, so bring your ideas and questions. You can find details about this virtual meeting further down in this newsletter.

As a reminder, don’t forget to save the date for our first regional meeting, “Clinical Research Nurse Symposium: Ethical Dilemmas in Clinical Research”, that we are planning with our colleagues in the MGH Research Nurse Collaborative, the New York City Chapter of IACRN, and The Rockefeller University Hospital Heilbrunn Family Center for Research Nursing. This free virtual event will take place on Friday April 28th from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Registration details will be coming soon.

As a Chapter, one of our main goals is to provide additional programming and CE opportunities, so we hope to have more to come as the year goes on. In addition, we want to create opportunities for members of our community to network and support each other in our chosen specialty area. One such opportunity is to join us in our plans to bring together those of us who are interested in applying for Clinical Research Nursing Certification. We will be running a Certification Portfolio Support Group with the aim to provide a structured, paced, and peer-supported approach towards completing the requirements of the certification portfolio for application submission in October 2023. If you are interested in joining the group, there is information and a brief survey link located in this month’s newsletter.

Thanks to all of you for being a part of this great organization! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any suggestions or questions or if you’d like to get more involved in the Chapter. You can find me at aconnor@bidmc.harvard.edu .

Best wishes,

Ann
