Research Nurse

Massachusetts General Hospital, Diabetes Research Center

Under general direction of the Research Center Nurse Director, the Research Nurse is responsible for implementing specific aspects of designated research protocols as part of a research team.  The nurse will primarily work on clinical research protocols  involving pregnancy and diabetes-related studies, including Heterogeneity Informed Nutrition Therapy for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (HINT-GDM), a study of glucose metabolism in pregnant women (the Study of Pregnancy Regulation of INsulin and Glucose, SPRING), and the Glycemic Observation and Metabolic Outcomes in Mothers and Offspring (GO MOMs) study. GO MOMs is a multi-center, comprehensive, longitudinal description of maternal glycemia over the course of pregnancy and will evaluate how glucose levels throughout pregnancy relate to traditional third trimester gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) screening and perinatal outcomes. There will be interaction with the participants in an out-patient setting as well as following delivery while hospitalized. At the delivery visit, the research nurse will collect data form the mother and her newborn and perform some newborn measurements. The research nurse will be involved in all aspects of implementation of these studies which may include study coordination responsibilities. The research nurse may be asked to work on new studies as they emerge or to perform coverage for other studies as needed.

 

The key responsibilities of the research nurse will include nursing care of subjects enrolled in selected clinical research studies and planning and implementing research studies according to the study protocol. Additional responsibilities may include obtaining informed consent, regulatory tasks and study database organization. The research nurse may also be responsible for study coordination and project management.

 

  • Hours are Mon-Fri 8-4:30 although could vary depending on schedule of research appointments, includes occasional weekend and holiday on-call hours for delivery visits.

  • Phlebotomy, IV insertion and past research experience desirable but not required.

  • Work setting: outpatient ambulatory setting with some activities taking place in inpatient setting.

Regional Medical Specialist

The Regional Medical Specialist (RMS) functions as a field-based member of the Medical Affairs department within the Oncology business unit. This position requires field travel 20-30% and home office work, with up to 80% of time spent with customers and key opinion key interactions. Most travel is within a defined geographical region, but additional travel may be required for occasional coverage assistance, educational or corporate meetings.

Research Nurse

Corrigan Minehan Heart Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA

Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator, physician investigators, Prevention Center Nurse Director, and the Sr. Clinical Research Program Manager, the Research Study Nurse is responsible for assisting with the implementation of Cardiology research protocols.  In this position, the research nurse will focus on a clinical research study involving heart failure and innovative care strategies.

 

The key responsibilities of the research nurse will include reviewing study notifications in Epic, triaging new or concerning symptoms to study physician, documenting patient encounters in Epic, and conducting research participant education related to protocol for heart failure management. The research nurse will be responsible for maintaining participant safety for reported symptoms, medication non-compliance, medication adjustments, and study protocol compliance. Additional responsibilities may include performing chart reviews to verify eligibility to support recruitment and CRF completion, providing support to answer clinical questions posed by CRCs when needed. These duties could be accomplished remotely.

 

 

  • Per Diem or Part-Time: Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday for 4 hours/day.

  • Two – three years of clinical nursing experience required. Research experience preferred though not required.

  • Work setting: Office setting or remote work.

Research Nurse

Position for full time Research Nurse

Under general direction of the Research Center Nurse Director, the Research Nurse is responsible for coordinating and implementing specific aspects of designated research protocols as part of a research team.  The nurse will primarily work on clinical studies involving diabetes technology, including continuous glucose monitoring and other devices, and will involve different patient populations including cystic fibrosis, type 1 diabetes, and hospitalized patients with diabetes.

 

The key responsibilities of the research nurse will include nursing care of subjects enrolled in selected clinical research studies and planning and implementing research studies according to the study protocol. Additional responsibilities may include obtaining informed consent, regulatory tasks and study database organization. The research nurse will also be responsible for study coordination and project management.

Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner (MSN)

Metabolism Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA

The clinical research nurse practitioner is part of an interactive and dynamic team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and study coordinators all working together on clinical research studies in the Metabolism Unit (Endocrine Division, Department of Medicine) at MGH.

Clinical research studies from our group explore how hormones and inflammation contribute to the risk of heart disease and obesity. The ultimate goal of our research is to identify tailored strategies to prevent metabolic disease through physiology studies and small clinical trials. Research Registered Nurse (RN)

Brown University, Providence, RI

The Research Registered Nurse (RN) will provide project management and medical support to a COVID-19 testing and vaccine implementation study (RADxUP) taking place at the RI Department of Corrections. Specifically, the primary clinical functions of this position are to conduct COVID-19 testing, COVID-positive patient assistance, and vaccination of incarcerated individuals and correctional staff. The primary research data functions are to coordinate all aspects of research data collection, including assessment with incarcerated people, medical providers, and correctional leaders in Rhode Island correctional facilities. Other responsibilities include report preparation, assistance with grant and Institutional Review Board (IRB) application and reporting. This position handles privileged information, ensuring confidentiality and overall program coordination in support of the Principal Investigators and Acting Director of Nursing at RIDOC.

Job Qualifications: 

  • Education Required: Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program of nursing.

  • Required: Active unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Rhode Island.

  • Experience

  • Required:  At least 1 year of nursing experience.

  • Required: Available to work full-time with flexible hours (some evening shifts and/or weekend coverage may apply).

  • Preferred: Experience in nursing research.
