Catherine Dempsey, BSN, RN, CRN-BC

Candidate for President-Elect

I am excited to run for President Elect after serving one term each as Member at Large and Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Boston-New England Chapter of the International Association of Clinical Research Nurses. My time on the Board affirmed that the CRNs in New England are among the best of clinical research nursing. They demonstrate the expertise, versality, and value that CRNs bring to the clinical research field. As President Elect, I will foster our partnerships with CRNs across the region to to further advance clinical research nursing practice.

My goals as President Elect are to expand networking opportunities throughout the New England region, facilitate professional development and continuing education opportunities for CRNs in New England, develop our volunteer pipeline, and to modernize our website.

My professional background includes clinical research management and research nursing at Boston Children’s Hospital. I am currently a Senior Auditor in the Human Subjects Protection Office at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Sara Metzler, BSN, RN

Candidate for Member At Large

Thank you for your consideration of my serving as Member at Large on the BNE Board of Directors of IACRN.  I became involved in the BNE chapter of IACRN in early 2022, when my professional pathway had led me away from the bedside and into CRN leadership.  Since that time, I have served on the chapter’s education committee as both member and committee co-chair.  In 2024, I have also had the privilege of serving as a leadership fellow in IACRN, with a focus on local membership recruitment and engagement. Above all else, IACRN has connected me with an incredible group of CRN colleagues and mentors outside of my home institution. My interest in the Member at Large position on the BNE Board of Directors is a natural extension of these experiences, both as an individual and group collaborator over the past two years.  Through additional service, I hope to support larger chapter endeavors and connections in the future to extend our reach throughout New England.

Emily Clermont, RN, MPH

Candidate for co-Treasurer

I have been a Research Nurse for the Clinical Research Operations Center at Boston Children’s Hospital since 2015. I enjoy working in research and have also volunteered for my local IACRN chapter running the elections, participating in the advisory board and serving as a past secretary since 2017. I am excited to run for the role of co-Treasurer and feel this will be a challenging and rewarding opportunity to continue my participation in this area of work for our region. Thank you for your consideration!

Kerri Fournier, BSN, RN, CPN, CRN-BC

Candidate for co-Treasurer

Kerri Fournier has recently retired from nursing. She was a project nurse manager for the Clinical Research Operations Center at Boston Children’s Hospital. She was in this position for seven years and has worked as a nurse at BCH for almost 40 years. Kerri has lots of experience serving on committees including the hospital’s Dissemination Committee and Nursing Interprofessional Practice Council and is an active member of IACRN Education Committee and Conference Planning Committee. She has served as a mentee in the IACRN Leader Fellowship and has been the nurse planner for several IACRN webinars and for the annual conference. Kerri also was the secretary for the Boston New England Chapter of IACRN.  Kerri wishes to continue to be an active member of her local IACRN chapter and hopes you will consider her for the role of co-treasurer.
