Stay tuned for the Summer/Fall Accountability Group!
Hi BNE chapter! For those of you who I have not yet gotten to meet, my name is Catriona (pronounced Katrina - Gaelic spelling : ) ). I work at the www.tearneylab.org/ located at Mass General Hospital and have been a member of IACRN since 2014. I am honored to work together with all of you to continue advancing our chapter’s mission as BNE chapter president. First and foremost, on behalf of the BNE chapter, I would like to sincerely thank Ann Connor for her extraordinary leadership and accomplishments over the past two years. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Ann as she transitions to her new role as Past President. In addition, we are excited to welcome our recently elected board members - Secretary, Amy Sabean and our Member at Large, Jenny Lewis, who is returning to the position after working with the Board this past year.
2024 is already shaping up to be another exciting and productive year for our chapter. Our treasurer, Catherine Dempsey, has done an incredible job leading the second CRN Certification Accountability Group cohort through portfolio preparation for the April 1st deadline. Our Education Committee is actively planning offerings for the upcoming year. In collaboration with the MGH Clinical Research Nurse Collaborative, the New York City IACRN Chapter, Rockefeller University Hospital Heilbrunn Family Center for Research Nursing, and the Pennsylvania IACRN Chapter, the second annual Regional Northeast Clinical Research Nurse Symposium will be held on Friday, April 26th from 8:30AM-12:30PM. An outstanding group of speakers including Elizabeth Johnson from the University of Montana, Charlotte Seckman from the University of Maryland, and Angela Lavoie from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will speak on Navigating the Future of Clinical Research with Artificial Intelligence (AI) Integration. Registration is now live! https://web.cvent.com/event/e583865a-dac8-4b94-8c3a-30b83c17dcab/summary.
I am excited about connecting with many of you during my time as BNE Chapter President. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have ideas or are interested in getting involved, cngrant@mgh.harvard.edu.
All the best,
Catriona
Past-President's Message
Greetings BNE Chapter! I hope that you all have the chance to take a break this winter and felt refreshed heading into the new year. Since our last newsletter, I have passed the reigns over to Catriona Grant, who will be taking the lead as President of the chapter. I am excited to see where she leads us! I am also incredibly grateful for Andrea Hale, who left the Board from her most recent role as Past President and for Kerri Fournier, who completed her term as Secretary. Andrea has spent many years on the Board in her leadership role as President Elect, Current and Past President. She has also taken on a vital role with the main organization as the co-chair of the annual IACRN Conference. Kerri has also been very active in the main organization of IACRN and is most currently on the Education Committee. She has been instrumental in walking our team through the process of applying for and providing continuing education hours for our members. Both Andrea and Kerri’s contributions have been to all of our benefit, so want to thank both of them for all of their hard work and commitment to our professional practice. We are very fortunate to have them both join our Advisory Board as they continue to be active leaders in our community.
As I shift in my role, I would like to take the time to reflect on all that this Chapter has accomplished. I am truly in awe of our Board members and Education Committee during my past two years as President. They have worked hard to help carry on the tradition of the BNE Chapter being an active and innovative group. Due to their efforts, we have been able to offer additional educational opportunities with contact hours, have started a program to support our members interested in applying for certification, have maintained and added new features to our newsletter, and have learned about website management behind the scenes. It truly takes a village.
As always, we would love to hear from you regarding ways that we can continue to grow this Chapter. Feel free to reach out to me at aconnor@bidmc.harvard.edu .
Best wishes to you all!
Ann
